“Ten years ago I knew nothing about radon gas. It was when our plumbers were having to install ‘radon rough-in piping’ (a hole in the foundation slab of homes to install radon reduction systems) that I started to hear more about radon, and its health hazards.
Over the next few years I did my own research and decided that I wanted to get my training to become a certified radon mitigation specialist. I am passionate about making people aware of the dangers of radon gas, and reducing levels in their home. I have had family members with lung cancer, and I need to do what I can to help prevent the same for anyone else that I can.
Over the last three years I have been able to take part in many Radon related events with the Lung Association, including the Tackle Radon campaign. I am also an active member of the provincial radon coalition. I am happy to share my radon story not only because I feel my relationship with the Lung Association has been incredibly valuable to my work in the radon industry as a certified radon measurement & mitigation professional, but also because I am passionate about helping people live healthier and better lives.
Testing for radon is easy, and inexpensive. If your home does have high radon levels, there is no need to panic. There are radon mitigation experts in the province like myself who are trained and certified to reduce the radon levels.”
